چکیده

This paper reports on the implementation and analysis of the MP reener, the rst parallel interactive theorem prover. The MP reener is a shared memory multi-processor implementation of the inference engine of Nuprl. The inference engine of Nuprl is called the reener. The MP reener is a collection of threads operating as sequential reeners running on separate processors. Concurrent tactics exploit parallelism by spawning tactics to be evaluated by other reener threads simultaneously. Tests conducted with the MP reener running on a four processor Sparc shared{ memory multi-processor reveal that parallelism at the inference rule level can signiicantly decrease the elapsed time of constructing proofs interactively .

Pervasive Parallelism in Highly-Trustable Interactive Theorem Proving Systems

Interactive theorem proving is a technology of fundamental importance for mathematics and computer-science. It is based on expressive logical foundations and implemented in a highly trustable way. Applications include huge mathematical proofs and semi-automated verifications of complex software systems. Interactive development of larger and larger proofs increases the demand for computing power...

Partiality and recursion in interactive theorem provers - an overview

The use of interactive theorem provers to establish the correctness of critical parts of a software development or for formalising mathematics is becoming more common and feasible in practice. However, most mature theorem provers lack a direct treatment of partial and general recursive functions; overcoming this weakness has been the objective of intensive research during the last decades. In t...

Interactive Theorem Provers from the perspective of Isabelle/Isar

Interactive Theorem Provers have a long tradition, going back to the 1970s when interaction was introduced as a concept in computing. The main provers in use today can be traced back over 20–30 years of development. As common traits there are usually strong logical systems at the bottom, with many layers of add-on tools around the logical core, and big applications of formalized mathematics or ...

Trusted Extensions of Interactive Theorem Provers: Workshop Summary

A fundamental strength of interactive theorem provers (ITPs) is the high degree of trust one can place in formalizations carried out in them. ITPs are usually also extensible, both at the logic level and at the implementation level. There is consequently a substantial body of existing and ongoing research into the extension of ITPs while preserving trust. In order to survey existing and new wor...

Towards the Integration of an Intuitionistic First-Order Prover into Coq

Sledgehammer [11] and HOLyHammer [5] drastically improved the productivity for users of proof assistants. They make the capabilities of automated theorem provers (ATPs) available from within interactive proof assistants. The large, monolithic design of state-of-the-art theorem provers can not be easily trusted to be free of bugs. Thus invoking theorem provers as an oracle is unacceptable for mo...
